COG 2008 (Nickel on Black)

For our 2008 geocoin, Central Ontario Geocachers featured the "Spirit Catcher" sculpture from Barrie's waterfront. Originally created by Ron Baird for Expo '86 in Vancouve, it was later purchased and donated to the Barrie Gallery Project, which became the MacLaren Art Centre. Mr. Baird's sculpture was the first piece in the BGP/MacLaren's permanent collection. It is now a well-known and loved Barrie landmark (even though some people complained about it when it first went up in 1987).
